The Majority of the restaurants are located at the Rainha Dona Leonor Praça with a great view of the river.
Most of the restaurants have a set menu price that range from 14 euros – 20 euros. they includes starters, main, dessert and coffee.
If you want to choose your own dishes they all have menus with a variety of fresh fish and tasty meat options. Ferragudo is know for serving a great Seafood Cataplana. This is on the menu for about 45 – 50 euros for 2 people. It is very well served with fresh seafood.
We ate at Barril Restaurant and opted the set menu option of 19.50 euros. It is worth every cent of the price. Sometimes set menus are not as well served as if you picked a dish from the menu, but, not here as you can see from the photos below.
The Barril Restaurant: has once a week Fado night, normally on a Thursday. They have set menu as well as la Carte Menu. Great value for money.
Ria Restaurant: Located next to the local Market along side the Arade River.Â
Ferragudu’s Terrace: Has a great Roof top excellent for those summer nights. Fabulous seafood and fresh fish dishes.
Borda Do Cais: Overlooking the River and Portimão.Â
Can you visit the Castle of São João de Arade?
This beautiful Castle of São João also known as the Ferragudo Castle will stand out as soon as you arrive at praia da Angrinha. You will also be able to see the castle from the high points of the town.
Unfortunately the Castle is private property and not open to the public. It has been known that world known celebrities have rented out this castle due to its great privacy.
The castle or better yet the fort was built to fight off intruders from the ocean and the Arade River. Together with the Fort of Santa Catarina on the other side of the river in Portimão would protect the lands.
