About Algarve Travel Tips
Algarve Travel Tips is an independent travel information website focused exclusively on the Algarve region in southern Portugal. The project was created by long-term Algarve residents who share first-hand knowledge, practical advice, and local insights to help visitors plan their holidays with confidence.
Our aim is simple — to provide honest, useful, and locally verified information so you can experience the Algarve in the best possible way. Whether you are looking for beautiful beaches, charming towns, great places to eat, or helpful travel tips, our content is designed to make planning your trip easier.
Our Story
Algarve Travel Tips was created by a small team — Melanie Savage, Sarah Neal, and Eveline Andrews — who have each lived in the Algarve for between 20 and 30 years. We first visited the Algarve over 30 years ago with a group of friends and immediately fell in love with the region’s coastline, atmosphere, and life.
Melanie Savage from London first visited the Algarve on my honeymoon and instantly fell in Love with the Algarve. After having 2 children, the family decided in 1995 to move to the Algarve. Main expertise is Central Algarve
Sarah Neal is a single mother from London who moved to the Algarve in 1993 after my divorce, worked in hotels in Albufeira for 3 years, and then became a tour guide for Follow Me Tours for 5 years. Now retired,I have the time to explore the Algarve. Main expertise is western Algarve
Eveline Andrew from Essex, moved to the Algarve in 2000 and met Sarah while working as a hotel Rep in the Algarve. Main Expertise is eastern Algarve.
Over time, we each made the decision to move to the Algarve with our families. Our children grew up here, and the Algarve became our home. Through the years, we explored beaches, towns, restaurants, walking routes, and hidden spots across the region. Algarve Travel Tips was created so we could share this knowledge and help visitors discover the Algarve beyond the typical tourist information.

With decades of living in the Algarve, we provide information based on real experience. Our recommendations come from personal visits, local knowledge, and continuous exploration. We regularly revisit locations to keep our content accurate and up to date.
